Definitely important wisdom. Hopefully one day it won't be necessary but until then...

We’re well into College Commencement season, with High School Graduation season close on its heels (at least in the Northeast; when do schools elsewhere in the country graduate their seniors?). At just about every graduation/commencement/moving on ceremony I’ve EVER attended, there’s always at least one speaker (ok, in reality it’s just about every speaker) who spends part of their speech imparting bits of wisdom to the graduates.

My church does a monthly worship theme centered around a word or concept, and this month the word is Wisdom. At yesterday’s service, we were given pieces of paper and were instructed to write down any bits of wisdom or advice we felt was important to us. Near the end, our minister told us to take your piece of paper, find someone else, and swap papers. Share the wisdom.

I thought that was a great idea, sharing those bits of wisdom, advice and mottos that we carry with us throughout our lives. And so right here, I’d love to do just that amongst one another. I’ll get us started with a few that are meaningful to me, and then after you peruse tonight’s Tops, please join us in the comments to share your own!

Treat yourself with the same grace and compassion you treat others. Never put an address in the To: section until you’ve had time to walk away, return, and reread that email. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Just because you read it on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true. You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need
