We put gutters on the structure and are in the process of moving existing tanks into new positions or improving their function. The tank pictured above is our primary emergency water tank for when the power goes out and the well pump doesn’t work. This tank holds 500 gallons. Two larger tanks will go behind the building, with a capacity of 5000 gallons. The best place to store rainwater is in the soil, but it’s useful to have some in tanks for emergencies and irrigation. With climate change, we’re bound to have weather-related emergencies of one kind or another.
