Milley Wanted More Middle East War [1]

I need to edit this story based on initial comments. The reports of Milley wanting to invade Iran are from Mark Meadows’ book. I misinterpreted the CNN article. This doesn’t change the allegation, but it definitely changes the credibility. My apologies.

Buried in the 7th paragraph of this headline article by CNN is Mark Milley lobbying Trump to invade Iran. What? Milley was apparently personally lobbying the administration to “attack Iran” with a “massive number of troops.” This was long before we began supporting Ukraine.

I have personally not thought well of anyone who worked in the Trump administration. I don’t care how you sleep at night telling yourself you were protecting the nation against our own tin-pot dictator. The reality is you were enabling him every day you didn’t publicly declare he was a lunatic and support the 25th amendment to remove him.

All of that said, this is some amazingly concerning shit if true. We just ended two disastrous forays into the Middle East. We’re now learning a venerated general wanted to invade another middle eastern country? I don’t want to trivialize the disruptive nature of Iran’s recent actions, their intervention in Ukraine, or the possible implications those actions may have for nuclear proliferation, but WTF? Milley wanted to invade another middle eastern nation after we just got out of Afghanistan?

I would support “discreetly” bombing an Iranian military facility supplying the civilian killing drones to Russia. I strongly question the logic of another war with U.S. troops on the ground barring some crazy circumstances. I welcome comments.
