Here’s what you can watch again if you feel the need.

A few weeks ago, the left-hand hinge of my laptop broke and the case/lid split along the seam as I was opening it. I figured I’d see if there was a YouTube video to give some advice on repairs for my make and model. Of course there was. I picked the first one and watched as a guy narrated the problem and set about repairing it. He flipped it over and produced a battery powered mini-screwdriver and started taking itty-bitty screws out of the bottom plate. Then he removed the plate and started taking out more teenie-weenie screws out of stuff inside, and taking out whole pieces, and unplugging multi-wire plugs as I watched in horror, repeatedly declaring “nope”.

Having noped my way right the fuck out of YouTube I returned to assessing my own predicament.

I gave the corner of the screen a little squeeze and it came back together but wouldn’t stay put but I also didn’t think Gorilla glue was the best idea to be messing with in this instance. So I pondered it some more and manipulated the hinge while holding it together.

Then I went to my office supplies/junk drawer and rummaged around to find my solution.

Et voila!

I’ve had to modify how I open the laptop but other than that, it’s working just fine.
