IAN: June 4, 2023 - I'm getting a lot of packages today [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-03 About half the things I’ve ordered that are arriving today were originally supposed to come the end of this coming week. At the earliest. Yes, I know. My life is so exciting. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* A way to save honeybees? The earliest known saddle has been found among the grave goods for a woman buried in the Yanghai Cemetary in China. It’s between 2500 and 2800 years old. For future information — a burlesque parody coming to PDX in November. Neanderthals used highly sophisticated methods to make the birch tar adhesives they used for their weapons manufacture. There’s a black market for fruit roll-ups?! A professor from Cambridge University has found manuscripts apparently containing records of 15th century stand-up comedy acts by minstrels who really lived then. Motherhood in ancient Greece. Moluccan boats from Indonesia have been identified in Australian rock art. The American workforce as 100 people. ************************* It’s been a week. Last weekend, my granddaughter helped me move my desk around. Much more convenient now, and it feels a lot roomier, even though it actually isn’t. I have made discernible progress in the cleaning I have to get done before tomorrow. I’ve even done, folded and put away several loads of laundry. All this next week and three days the following, and school is out for the summer. ************************* Love you guys!
