Oh do tell!

CNN’s underfire boss Chris Licht has apologised to the cable news network’s staff in a Monday morning call, according to reports. The organization’s CEO has faced criticism from staff in the wake of the controversial Donald Trump town hall and a searing 15,000-word profile in The Atlantic. Staff at the company have complained that the disastrous profile, released on Friday, showed poor judgement with CNN already suffering falling ratings.

Note: there was a Business Insider article that had remarks from other TV and media executives, and most were more aghast that Licht did not have a handler to prevent spilling his guts to The Atlantic, and it wasn’t so much about Licht’s fucked up theory that to gin up CNN’s ratings he had to move the company to the right.

I was at a conference with other media bosses when the story dropped. I asked them what they thought.

"He needs a handler — fast."

I suspect that what Licht was apologizing about is The Atlantic made him look like a doofus who spoke too much about HIMSELF , NOT the fact that trying to be Foxlite propaganda is monumentally stupid.

And to make my point:

Licht told staff on the 9am call that he did not recognise himself in the Inside the Meltdown at CNN profile, for which he gave reporter Tim Alberta months of unfettered access, reported CNBC... “As I read that article, I found myself thinking, CNN is not about me. I should not be in the news unless it’s taking arrows for you. Your work is what should be written about,” he continued.

Emphasis is mine.

Even in Tim Alberta’s article on Licht, Alberta actually AGREED with Licht that CNN needed to give more air time to conservative voices. And when I read that, I thought, “WTF?” How much more fucking air time do we need to give to conservatives? There is no damn problem with conservatives getting their shitty message out! Alberta’s complaint was not with Licht’s theory about how to fix CNN, but he disagreed with the EXECUTION of those plans (The CNN Town Hall for Trump).

But it appears that Licht and other “media elites” think the original sin is that Tim Alberta made Licht look weird. Sorry, but that dog won’t hunt. It’s not the execution of Licth’s plans that is the problem. It’s the entire mental framework that CNN needs to become Fox propaganda that is the problem!

You cannot compete with Fox propaganda! It’s geared toward lies and disinformation! If CNN wants to beat out Fox propaganda, it’s going to have to provide right wing lies to its viewers and offer to bus them to the next insurrection!

Dollars to donuts that CNN continues its slide.
