CNN wakes up - fires Licht [1]

CNBC is reporting that Chris Licht is out at CNN here. Looks like Licht’s attempt to hide his control by moving away from the spotlight but keeping control of programming didn’t work.

Chris Licht is out at CNN after leading the news network for a little more than a year, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Not that it means CNN will get any better as the guy left there isn’t likely to be any better.

The move comes soon after David Leavy, a key Zaslav ally, was named the network’s new chief operating officer. Leavy was tasked with taking over marketing, public relations, advertising sales, facilities and other logistics.

Zaslav still holds the reins so I won’t hold my breath for CNN to see the light but the article does cite the revolt of news talent as a major reason. CNN can’t make itself over to Faux News Nicer (FNN) without losing the real news people. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Wonder if this will change the Pence Town Hall plans?
