Mixed signals on Ukraine from the number two Democratic Presidential candidate [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-07 I’m getting mixed signals from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the current number two candidate running for the Democratic Presidential nomination. First, on the bad side, according to The Daily Beast, Kennedy blames Ukrainian President Zelensky and American Neo-Cons for the war. This is confusing on at least one level. The Neo-Cons were a force in the Republican Party during the Bush administrations. Their influence started diminishing when Obama was President, and any influence they have over the Republican Party disappeared with the rise of Trump and the MAGA Movement. I don’t see where they have the influence to start a war with the nearest Cub Scout Troop, much less between Ukraine and Russia. Personally, I disagreed with Neo-Con foreign policy, but at this point in time I wish they were still a force in the GOP. They at least seemed rational. On the other side, according to People magazine, RFK, Jr’s son, Conor went over to Ukraine and joined their military efforts for two and a half months, first as a drone operator, and then as a machine gunner. According to the article, Kennedy was proud of his son’s actions. Perhaps this is the pride of knowing that your child actually did something, even if you disagree with your child’s decision. As a parent, this has happened to me occasionally. Or perhaps RFK, Jr., had a change of heart about the war since October. So I’m not sure what to think about RFK, Jr’s, views on Ukraine. But given his other positions, I hope the Democratic Party finds someone else to run if something happens to Biden and he has to drop out of the race. [Edited, since I apparently got confused between RFK & JFK. Sorry.] [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/6/7/2173818/-Mixed-signals-on-Ukraine-from-the-number-two-Democratic-Presidential-candidate Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
