[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-09 Followers of the band Dead & Co. know they are currently on their final tour. After 57 years the remainder of the band that was the Grateful Dead are calling it quits, and unlike many of their previously retired contemporaries, these guys mean it. The tour has been great so far; the band, by most accounts, is playing some of their best shows ever. I can testify personally that the show they did in Dallas a couple of weeks ago was one of the best of the six Dead shows I’ve seen since the 80’s. Unfortunately, the smoke from the Canadian wildfires has cancelled many sporting and other outdoor events in the past week. The timing is particularly bad for Deadheads, as most of the June dates are on the East Coast and are in outdoor venues. They’re supposed to be playing tonight and tomorrow at Wrigley Field, but it looks unlikely they will. However, as of this moment tickets for tonight’s show are still available online (Sunday has already sold out). There was a debacle at the show in Pennsylvania recently where there were huge traffic jams, and for those trying to get in wait times exceeding 5 hours were reported, with many ticket holders unable to even get to the show. Ticketmaster has so far refused to give refunds for that show, claiming (perhaps rightly so) that the fault was with Live Nation, who controls the venue. Naturally Live Nation has made no statement about it either that I know of. With tickets going for hundreds of dollars each, it would be an understatement to say purchasers are upset about it. Of course if entire shows get cancelled they will have to give refunds. That will be small compensation to those wanting to see this remarkable band for one last time. I hope for the fan’s sake these shows will get rescheduled, but who knows? So, I’m having trouble finding any information about tonight’s and future shows. Anyone with more current knowledge please let the kossack deadheads know, I’m sure many would appreciate knowing what’s going on.
