[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-10 While Mr Victim-Like-No-Other spews venom, and while every media outlet is breathless about the "unpresidented" (his word, btw) action of indigting a former precedent (hm, something's wrong), something nagged at me. Is it, really, without precedent? Turns out that yes, on the technicality that no president has been charged formally. But our weird, lovable country has had a very high official not only charged but serving. Remember Aaron Burr? Charged with murder, he still showed up to take his place in The Room Where It Haapens. When I was reminded of this, I smacked my head. It makes sense. A man with no values. A possible traitor: What classified info did he give Dear Theodosia? A narcissist, with a hair trigger (!) anger. A politician who operated with power way beyond his abilities. A conspiracist who rejected experts. The organizer of sedition. (Alright, that was after the duel. But not by much.) Charged with murder, protected by other powerful men, Burr showed up and proceeded to run the Senate. It's not exact. But we've been here before.
