The Forgotten Defendant who Holds Trump's Fate [1]

Walt Nault, Trump’s Co-defendant in the Nuclear Secrets Case, is suddenly both the most powerful and powerless unknown man in legal history.

If he pleads guilty and gets a reduced sentence (likely fines and no jail time) he single handedly brings down Trump with a whimper. His plea establishes a “legal fact” that has to be recognized by the Courts. Trump literally would have no legitimate defense — not that he has one now. Nault would forever be remembered as the guy who took Trump down.

But, if he pleads, there is no witness protection program capable of keeping him safe from the MAGA Army. For all those who will applaud his decision, there is a slim minority that, like their idol, will see him as a traitor and have no respect for the law. If they wanted to hang Pence, imagine what will they do will Nault.

It will be interesting to see which horn he chooses in this dilemma. My prayers are with him either way.
