John in Ghana Home After Surgery Today [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-16 Another quick bulletin on my friend John in Ghana. John is a minister in the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana. He works to help the poorest of the poor who come to him asking for help in life-and-death situations. but John has been suffering from his own life-threatening emergency. He has suffered from passing large amounts of blood off and on for some time. About a week ago the bleeding became so bad that his doctor insisted that he needed immediate, emergency surgery. While we were working to raise the money John was housebound. When he would try to stand he would become dizzy and his vision turned black. He sent me many photos of his bloody clothing and even one showing his athletic shoes covered with his own blood. (I did not and will not share those here, for obvious reasons. But they are horrible.) The surgery was scheduled for yesterday but at the last moment the doctors demanded more money. John had to go home overnight but I managed to get the money to him and he said he would go in to the hospital again in the morning. It is now after 6 PM in Ghana and I have just received a text from John. He has had the surgery and is home. I am sure there will be many follow-ups to come, but I just wanted to share the good news. John will live.
