IAN: June 18, 2023 - Father's Day [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-17 We’re supposed to visit the family today, so if I’m not around, that’s why. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* Speculation on how much truth is in certain legends involving the ancient kingdom of Mali. Newly discovered evidence of the human trek to Australia. It was found in a cave in Laos. Popocatepetl. Sometimes they find evidence of just how old the city of London is. New information on how the human brain might actually work. Historical sites in Ukraine are being scanned with high-tech laser equipment just in case they get bombed during the war. The world’s oldest sheet music. A 3000 year old shipwreck is being raised for study. It was constructed by sewing the planks together. The rise of the ‘no-wash’ movement. ************************* Well, this hasn’t been the most active week. My firstborn had a doctor’s appointment on Monday, so she ended up dealing with getting my grandson to and from school, since she worked from home for a couple of hours rather than try to go to the office. No tennis on Tuesday, but the school picnic was held at a park only about six blocks from where we live, so my grandson walked home from that. This was fortunate, since my first re-read of the new Ilona Andrews book involved several tangerine mimosas. Wednesday was the last day of school for the 2022-2023 year. I will have to remind my granddaughter to nag me once or twice a week about keeping up with my exercises. My belly has been rumbling. I’m not sure if it’s gas or if I’ve caught some bug. ************************* Love you guys!
