New Hampshire State Senate: 2024 Ratings [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-06-21 Up next in my state legislative summary posts is the New Hampshire State Senate, which I looked at back in May of this year. A chart with my ratings for all the competitive seats can be found at the top of the post. As per usual, I have excluded non-competitive seats (“Safe Democrat” or “Safe Republican”). There are no rating changes for any of the seats, so this post will be very short (with just one paragraph below for my overall rating of the chamber). My overall rating for the chamber is a Toss Up between Republican control and a tied chamber, as an outright Dem majority seems less likely. Currently, the balance in the chamber is 14R – 10D. If the Dems were to win all four toss-ups, holding onto their two seats in this category and flipping the two GOP-held seats, the chamber would be tied, presumably resulting in a power-sharing agreement. (Note: this assumes no other seats change parties, with Democrats and Republicans holding all the seats they are favored in). For the Dems to have control of the chamber, they also need to flip at least one Republican-leaning district, with SD 7 and SD 16 being the best options. Note that if the ratings for any of the toss-up seats are shifted rightward, then the Republicans should be favored to hold their majority in the chamber.
