It's the water, folks - shifting the Earth's axis? [1]

New report out, covered by CNN here, indicates the Earth’s axis has shifted measurably (31 inches to the east) in the last two decades due to groundwater pumping. It does go on to indicate that this may or may not have significant additional climate changes.

But this does point out how much the increasing burden on the planet by human resource use may have increasing impacts that we do not even have on our radar.

The volume estimated to be drawn is mind-boggling — 2,150 GIGATONS of water — from 1993 to 2010. And we know that number is continuing to increase.
