It's the Stupidity" — The Week in Editorial Cartoons [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-07-09 Only a few months ago, a lengthy article in the New Yorker magazine looked at the challenges presented by Climate Change and the actions necessary to minimize its impact. Of the historical CO2 emissions from 1750-2020, just four countries — the United States, China, Russia, and Germany — account for 50%; the remaining 190 countries are responsible for the other 50% of emissions. Even if the problem is easily identifiable, the proposed solutions have been elusive. These range from penalizing corporate polluters to delinking fossil fuel corporate money from political campaigns to curbing economic growth. All easier said than done, if they are to be achieved using the tools of capitalism. Millions of lives are at stake and as this article also points out, upward of a million species.
