Could Russia/Ukraine lead to big changes with Russia/China? [1]

For some time now I’ve been wondering if China would take advantage of Russia’s increasing military weakness and do some expansion themselves. Talking with friends, the best strategy for China to gain control over Manchuria and parts of Siberia seems like a long term lease which would help Russian economics and give China a chance to move a lot of people, including military, into these areas. This is a really big, world changing thing which could reduce or eliminate China’s fetish with Taiwan.

This article is well written and gives an excellent historical perspective. Ukraine is on our minds now, but other things are or could be going on because of Russia’s impending defeat.
