Howard Buffetts foundation contributions to Ukraine hit $450 Million [1]

Howard Buffett is the son of Billionaire Warren Buffet. Howard has a foundation that contributes money to all kinds of organizations, mostly hunger relief. I should note that his foundation bought the volunteer fire department where I was a firefighter and EMT a fire truck about 5 years ago.

Today I found out his foundation has contributed $450 million to Ukraine since the war began. On the Where we work page of his website they state the following:

UKRAINE

The Foundation scaled up our support for humanitarian relief and investments in food security and conflict mitigation immediately after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, deploying nearly half of our annual grantmaking budget during the conflict’s first year. Our grantmaking includes direct food assistance and resources for internally displaced persons, refugees and schools; donations of farm equipment and agricultural assistance for small-scale producers; procurement and donation of electricity generators and windows to restore critical infrastructure; support for prosthetics and medical care for civilians; conflict mitigation tools and services including demining equipment and support for demining operations; large-scale purchases of Ukrainian grain for developing nations where food insecurity has been exacerbated by the conflict; and support for investigation and documentation of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Rueters recently did a story on his trip to Ukraine.

Buffett, whose foundation has committed $450 million to Ukraine, was in Kherson taking part in the distribution of aid.

I am not saying Buffett is an angel, he has done some controversial things, such as spending millions on stopping migrants in Cochise County, AZ. But what he is doing in Ukraine is admirable.
