Morning Open Thread- Young Talent [1]

It all started with this song on a local adult alternative radio station I had just discovered.

Some might remember I had posted it the comments because it mentions so many places that MOTs live I thought it would unite us all.

Then I got curious. Who the heck is Max Harms anyways? How did he come to make this movie in a town near to me, Camp Verde? How can a kid that skinny be a baritone? How did he not get eaten by the Llamas in this video?

So I looked up his channel. Whadda ya know, he has his own studio in his garage and most of his endeavors seem to be making videos of other artists that don’t live in the Verde Valley. And most of them are young singer songwriters that ooze Arizona.

Many here might remember some of my diaries about working with bands back in my 20’s. So the discovery of new talent in my backyard always excites me. So it seems like Max is more interested in promoting others than his own music since he haas only one video on his channel. My ancient DNA took over and I reached out to Max asking if he wanted another set of hands in the garage running a second camera. I didn’t volunteer to hump head amps around, I’m not 28 anymore. Let the youngsters do that. I earned my retirement. Max got back to me fairly quickly. We tried to meet on Saturday but that kinda fell through. My GF’s birthday was Sunday. I’m waking up early to film my local railroad in action tomorrow. Maybe Friday we can get together and talk shop. He sure does have some decent equipment so I don’t know if my stuff will really be able to contribute, but I lie the idea of kicking up these videos another notch. Not that they really need it. The quality is pretty damned good.

Now to change the topic.

You all know me enough by now that I don’t have an inappropriate bone in my online body. And we’ve been friends through thick and… thicker. Shit, when are we gonna get a break from the Apricot Asshole?!?! But I’ve thought of a way to say thank you for your friendship. I would like to send everyone a homemade present that says Arizona is not full of screaming chowder heads like Kari Lake. So, if you are in the mood for a surprise, that doesn’t involve anthrax, Kos mail me your shipping address, if and hopefully when I have enough units to ship, I will. You shouldn’t have to include you full name, just a place to send some goodness. I promise to burn the web page when I am done.

I am excited to join in the man’s endeavor. His list of friends seems to be long and varied. Hell, the are all coming through town just to shoot one or two videos. That tells me they respect the heck of him. It would be neat to meet new artists that will never be a top 40 mainstay. The music industry is pathetic, no? Discuss.
