I am here at the Iowa State Fair right now eating way too much unhealthy food but enjoying the sights nonetheless.

Unfortunately, my travel schedule had me arriving after most of the presidential candidates were in town, I did manage to catch Tim Scott's interview with Gov. Reynolds. It was what you would expect: lots of god and jesus talk, lots of lies about Biden and Democrats including lies about Republican tax cuts helping family farmers. The one true thing he said was the about the Tax Scam (ie tax cuts and jobs act) lower the top tax rate from 38% to 21%. How that helps anyone standing around me, I'll never know.

Art Laffer and his ridiculous curve made an appearance in the speech which I found hilarious. I doubt anyone in the crowd knows what that is or how it has killed their economic prospects for more than 40 years.

Also mentioned was the lie about how many undocumented people are coming across the border. Scott wants to reimpose Title 42 and close the border but did mention COVID is over so I'm not sure how that will work. A bit ironic considering all the signs I saw looking for workers for jobs normally done by immigrants especially from south of the border.

Scott so didn't want anyone telling the world he likes the ribs here better than in South Carolina. Oops, I guess the secret is out.

On the way out of the area where the interview was, I saw Joni Ernst. My mom really wanted me to say hi to her so I grudgingly obliged. I opted to pitch her on a cause that's important to me but should be completely non-partisan: NIH funding for research into MPS diseases. (Many of us die in our teens or early 20s) She seemed receptive. She said while she is not on the relevant committee, she would keep her eye for it when it comes up. One of her staff members gave me his business card so I will follow up with him.

I did want to mention something more like stop gaslighting people about Trump's crimes and let the trials play out as any others would but being in the lion's den, I opted to stay safe. Lol
