IAN: Thursday 8/17/2023 August Crafts [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-08-16 Here are the crafts I made this month for the door prizes at my guild meeting yesterday. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! Monday Youffraita Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac Wednesday Pam from Calif Thursday art ah zen Friday FloridaSNMOM Saturday FloridaSNDad Sunday loggersbrat Bird house and ferns: This is made on a wooden cutting board. I covered the board with an fern patterned wall paper, then put the flower box and bird house on. The little sign says Be the Sun Shine. Home Sweet Home: This house sign is fun to work with, and you will see it again below. This is the wooden one but the one below is cut from a plastic place mat. Stay humble:I liked the graphic on the place mat so cut the house out of it. The two little signs say Life is short, lick the bowl and Fresh Flowers Happiness grows here. Stay Salty: It was one sign that I altered to be a wind chime. It sways in the breeze and the rusted bells on the bottom ring at the slightest movement. Honeycomb and Bee: I pour painted the flower pot, which looks better in real life. I wanted to do more bee themes but never found the supplies I wanted except this one. Cutting board bike: Another wooden cutting board with a little bike sign and some nautical rope. A simple wall design maybe for a kitchen or hallway. Rose circle wreath: These circle wreaths are popular so I make one every other month or so with different accents. The ivory wrapping is an unraveled summer hat. If you snip the first stitch where it starts its hat pattern, the whole seam pulls out leaving this “Ribbon” about 1.5 in wide and 11 yards long. Its a deal for $1.25! Be brave:This says Be brave, be bold, be you with arrows above and below the text. It didn’t photo as well as I would have hoped but it is almost monotone in real life. Dragon Fly Compass: This was a compass sign that said something sappy at the bottom so I cut the sappy off and put a dragon fly on, attached to a spring so it moves. I had a time finding a spring that would work and ended up buying a cat toy at Dollar Tree and using half the spring, attached with corks and glue to the sign and the dragon fly. It is my fave of this lot. 5 sided succulent:There is a mirror in the frame and then a sticker of the smaller frame with the vining plant. In front is a small bamboo box with a faux succulent in it. So ends this month’s show. I hope you liked at least some of these. Have a good day all.
