[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-08-17 I don’t know about you, but I’m more than overwhelmed about what the judicial system will actually do with the greatest white miscreant in the U.S.: Donald Trump. We all know there is as real two-tier legal system, and it leans toward white people, especially wealthy white people. But recent events got me thinking about another white criminal who made his debut on national TV with his assault on NBC reporter Shaquille Brewster. While reporting live from MS about Hurricane Ida, Brewster was assaulted by a criminal name named Benjamin Dagley. Turns out that Dagley violated his probation, and miracle of miracles, he was sentenced to finish the rest of his remaining sentence in prison, which is 36 months. A reminder about what Dagley did will make this minor judicial miracle all the more apparent: Dagley spotted Brewster reporting about the strom. He pulled his truck over and runs down to start screaming at Brewster to “REPORT ACCURATELY!” Brewster handled this best way he could, and everyone was left to wonder, “WTF was that about?” Turns out that Dagley has a violent history: Current and previous legal battles Dagley has a long legal history that spans multiple counties and now two states. He and another Wooster resident are the defendants in a civil lawsuit against a former co-worker who claims that they committed fraud, according to court documents. This case is ongoing with a jury trial set for Oct. 18 in Wayne County Common Pleas Court. In 2017, he was arrested after he broke into Cleveland Plating, a company he once owned, according to a report from Cleveland.com. There, Dagley drilled into tanks containing sodium cyanide, hydrochloric acid, yellow chromate, ferrous chloride, and sulfuric acid. The owner of the electroplating company said Dagley risked creating a deadly World War One-like cyanide gas, according to the article. In another incident, he was accused of breaking into the Cleveland Plating building and of punching and slamming a door into a security guard, according to a Cleveland.com report. During this time, he was also in the midst of an ongoing dispute with the company regarding the property, its lease, mortgage and other issues. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted felonious assault, inducing panic and vandalism. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years probation, according to the court docket. Think about all that. This guy is a violent offender, and he gets 30 days in prison and the rest of the time is on probation. I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Dagley was black? Anyway, this is why I called him a criminal because he is one. Dagley was out on probation, and one of the terms of his probation was not leave the state of Ohio without checking in with his probation officer. But what does Mr. White Privilege do? He leaves the state for MS. And he decides that a black reporter needs a lessons in manners or some such shit. Would have he have done that to a white reporter? I have my serious doubts. Can you say Racism? Turns out that he lead the police on merry chase before being apprehended. And that was the last I heard about any of this, at least until I wondered lately, “What ever became of Mr. Dagley?” His appearance before the judge on probation violations did not go over well. The Wooster man accused of assaulting a television reporter during a live broadcast is going to prison for three years for violating his probation. Benjamin Eugene Dagley was sentenced to 36 months in prison by a Cuyahoga County judge at a Wednesday hearing, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Dagley, a 54-year-old Wooster native, left Ohio for Gulfport, Mississippi without permission while on probation, where he allegedly assaulted an MSNBC reporter on live television. By the way, Dagley did the “I’m so sorry!” routine, and it did not work this time for a white guy. Frankly, Dagley needed to serve his full sentence in prison. But I am relieved that Dagley is spending time in prison now. A smidgeon of justice.
