[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-08-26 There has been much discussion on this site regarding the potential location at which a convicted and sentenced P01135809 (P-numbers) could potentially serve his time. GITMO, Club Fed, Supermax, U.S. Pen. Annex Mar-a-Largo, etc. have all been posited. Perhaps we could revive the “secure location” previously favored to store V.P. Cheney until the storm clouds passed. I am confident that either the Federal Government or the State of Georgia can arrange suitable accommodation for him. I would also hope that, in keeping with the quaint notion of, “nobody is above the law,” P-numbers is treated the same as all other prisoners with respect to lawyer and family visits as well as monitored phone and video calls from the free world. His cell phone and internet access should be similarly proscribed. TV and radio interviews should also be essentially banned. Consider now what it is that this narcissist desires just slightly more than money. He craves attention, he craves adulation, he craves being at the center of the news cycle of the whole world. Standing there like a Colossus, soaking all that up while simultaneously sowing havoc, wreaking vengeance and humiliation on his enemies, inflicting pain and misery on those myriad miserable humans he deems to be inferior to him. Can he do those things from within a prison cell? Minimally. A lawyer or a scion standing outside the prison gates reading a statement is very thin gruel. Oh, a few misguided souls will keep vigil out there every Saturday morning for a while, but their numbers will soon dwindle when they realize they could be doing something fun like fishing, hunting or consuming porn. On the political scene, he will soon become powerless. Republicans will cease to fear him and then move on to the next shiny alternate reality politician. He will become irrelevant. Can you imagine him at 3 a.m., any night, every night, there alone in his cell. Awake with his thoughts in those small hours when the mental defenses are at their weakest. And what thoughts. The incandescent rage. The thwarted vengeance. The stark fear of his helplessness. The creeping realization that he has become a forgotten nobody. The complete absence of sycophants to fill the gaping void, the consuming black hole in his soul. Wherever this convicted would-be monarch is physically incarcerated will be irrelevant. Mentally he will be forever trapped, imprisoned within his own mutilated and poisoned psyche. In his case, does that constitute “cruel and unusual punishment?” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/8/26/2189865/-Incarceration-of-P01135809-cruel-and-unusual-punishment Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
