Oliver Anthony - Talk about not seeing the Forest for the Trees Part 2 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-08-26 This is a follow up to meteoric rise of Anthony Oliver on the music charts #1 Itunes, first person to open at #1 on Billboard without any previous chart history. Please review the twitter video in original post. Talk about not seeing the Forest for the Trees The purpose of that post was simply to point out that this song along with his other songs are resonating with people across the social, racial and political spectrum across The Globe. Now Daily Kos is a liberal political blog. So given the ambiguity around the controversial lyrics (yes they are inarticulate) and seeing Right Wing Influencers champion this song as Their anthem, the response from this side of the political spectrum understandably was highly critical. I know others have already posted about this but here is Anthony Oliver in his own words post success clarifying his positions Now I will leave it to the reader to come to their own conclusions. Here is the money shot if you will, and I pulled this quote from another post on here “It was funny seeing my song at the presidential debate, because I wrote that song about those people, you know. So for them to have to sit there and listen to that, that cracks me up,” Anthony said. “It was funny seeing the response to it. That song has nothing to do with Joe Biden — it’s a lot bigger than Joe Biden. That song is written about the people on that stage — and a lot more, too. Not just them, but definitely them.” He indicates he is aggravated with the conservatives who have claimed ownership of this song to further their own agenda and people on the left who are categorially discrediting him. In his own words “It is driving people crazy to see the unity that is coming from this from All Walks” Which is the exact point of my original post. What is being missed is its message and you can see it in people’s reactions, that message is UNITY. We are all One. The emotions that this is provoking are universal, it hits at the archetypal center of the heart. Now part of the discussion on the original thread was that the verdict was still out on this guy and we simply did not have enough information. There were both encouraging and discouraging signs. Now we have further clarification especially on the welfare lyrics. Got to the video at 6:45 and he clarifies his position. He’s not punching down. Why discuss this?? Well I don’t know if anybody has noticed but we are on the verge of losing our country...literally. It wakes me up at night. I feel like we have entered a dimension where headlines from “The Onion” are the reality. So we are experiencing a phenomenon that is resonating with Millions of people (voters). It would be Wise for this community and the DNC to just listen and withhold judgement. Because regardless if you like this or not these are people that we need to come out and vote in order to save ourselves from ourselves. That’s what I have to say.
