I’m just getting into position and zooming in on the pair of mating butterflies. I watered the lawn an hour ago and the remaining dew has attracted them. That must be the male, fluttering his wings and dancing around the other,

Is it that different from when I was seventeen wearing my drainpipe trousers and jacket and? … the band plays and girls walk out into the no-man’s land between them and us and the wing fluttering and offering of nectar begins.

They are not that different from us. Not at all. They flirt, they mate, they have kids. Of one kind or another. I don’t think they concern themselves about us.

A video would be good. Where’s the macro setting? Am I in time? Just.

I’m going to get a great video here and—wait—bam! A damn beetle barges into the butterflies. Coitus interruptus. Off they fly in different directions.

You stupid, stupid, beetle!
