A Speech for Biden [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-09-04 Greetings my fellow Americans. I want to ask you question. What if I told you that everyone in America who makes over a year 125k only pays $10,000 a year in social security and no matter how much more someone makes over $125000 a year whether it's 1 million or 100 million in a year, the highest amount they pay is 10k for social security. Time to fix that, don't you think? We can make social security solvent forever with just a vote. Help me, help you. We need more democrats to pass that into law. Speaking of those making a million or more a year, what about tax cuts? Do most Americans think anyone who has a million dollars or more in adjusted gross income, needs a tax cut? As to not confuse my republican friends, I'm not talking about small business people who have revenues of a million or more. I talking about people who's adjusted income individually after all their costs, deductions and liabilities, have a million or more in annual income. For some me reason even republican economists seem to confuse that. Our republican friends seem to often confuse revenue and profit with income. Nope, we're talking about personal income here. If your personal adjusted income is over a million or greater, I don't think we need to cut your taxes. What do you think? Maybe we should increase it by about 5 percent? Maybe to help pay for those bridges, roads, runways and docks that they benefit from to grow their fortunes? Often you hear about means testing from our republican friends. Would it surprise you to find out this is an area of agreement between republicans and myself? My fellow Americans, do you think that if someone makes over 10 million a year in income, not revenues, not profits from their businesses and after they paid their costs and employees, really need social security that year? I know some of you are thinking, well they paid into it Joe. That's not fair. Here's what I say to that, we all pay taxes for things we do not and hopefully will not ever need to use. If you have a job with a paycheck, you have funded unemployment, food stamps, meals on wheels and veteran benefits for those who haven't been has fortunate as you. Those programs exist for those of us who need help. That's the promise of America. That's what makes us great. Let's get back to person making 10 million a year in individual income. What if they lose it all? Hopefully, not. But if does happen, means testing can restore their benefits. We hope it never happens but we're ready to help you if does. We can and will rebuild the American dream into a sustainable American Dream for all. Yes, even our Republican friends. It's not one America for us and another for them. It's an America for all. God bless you, god bless America. So questions? I imagine there will be many lol.
