Paper Seat Covers Should Be Banned [1]

Pollution and climate change threaten our planet, and while this is probably not the biggest issue, every little bit counts. Which is why we should ban paper toilet seat covers.



Now I know what you’re thinking- but what about all the people who will get ill if they don’t protect the backs of their thighs? I’m sorry to say but those things are hygiene theater:

Toilet seat covers are absorbent and bacteria and viruses are tiny, able to pass through the relatively large holes in the cover's paper, said Kelly Reynolds, a public health researcher at the University of Arizona. That means they don't stop the spread of germs, she said, but the risk of germ transmission from your skin touching a toilet seat is unlikely in the first place.

The downsides to these pretend safety devices is the waste and the fact that they always seem to end up on the floor.



I know this isn’t the most important issue ever, but I humbly submit it should be done. Thanks for reading.
