Why I am somewhat hopeful about the 14th Amendment [1]

Just some thoughts about disqualification under the 14th Amendment

1. We all know this issue will end up at the Supreme Court.

2. I think they will vote 7-2, or 6-3, that Trump is ineligible.

3. I think that ineligibility will be ruled to require a high bar.

4. That high bar will be conviction in a court of law.

This assumes Trump is convicted of insurrection. Even if he isnt convicted, this seems like a reasonably good outcome. It clarifies the 14th Amendment and how it should be enforced.

I am very okay with this result because it strengthens the rule of law in this country. And it makes it more difficult for this law to be used against Trump's political enemies.

I like to think of things like this as a knife. The knife doesn't decide who to stab.
