There are little indicators of the moral decay of the Republican party that, although trivial, need to be addressed because they become the public anesthetic for larger lies. In 2016, the media turned it into a running joke when former Press Secretary Sean Spicer reiterated the obvious lie about Donald Trump’s Inaugural crowd size.

I sat up late on Saturday nights with the rest of America...

And I watched actor Melissa McCarthy imitate Spicer by donning a business suit and reenacting the angry repartee between Spicer and the assembled Washington White House press corps. In 2017, Media Matters amassed a list of Sean Spicer’s biggest lies, including former convicted Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s limited role in the Trump orbit. There was a steady downhill slide from a succession of Trump press secretaries culminating in White House Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway introducing into the lexicon “alternate facts.”

While much of this seemed funny, at the time, it became a blueprint for so many Republican politicians; the stampede to the microphone to foist a lie on the American public has become a sport. I teeter on the ledge of an apoplectic canyon every time I hear a GOP pol talk about a ninth-month abortion. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis repeatedly has made up something called post-birth abortions in interviews. Constantly lying is like a habit-forming drug craving. The drug must be more potent and injected more often to satisfy the liars. At the urging of quadruple indicted former President [Donald Trump], the GOP has deluded themselves into believing President Joe Biden and his family are a crime syndicate.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced yesterday the House would be opening an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. To date, every avenue of investigation has revealed nothing but innuendo, missing informants, and witnesses contradicting the GOP theory. Still, nonetheless, the Republicans are hell-bent on avenging the two impeachments of Donald Trump. The Grand Ole Party is fond of using the term weaponization of government but exploits government apparatuses to a fair-thee-well when convenient. Remember, Speaker McCarthy confessed the Benghazi hearings were to sully the reputation of Hillary Clinton when he said, “Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee; what are her numbers today?”

Although McCarthy sought to feed the GOP House beasts and get the media to chase their shiny object, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) announced that without a firm commitment to impeach Joe Biden, he would lead the charge to shutdown the government and/or remove McCarthy from leadership. “Subpoenas for Hunter Biden and the members of the Biden family. Impeach Joe Biden. Do these things or face a motion to vacate the chair,” threatened Gaetz. Previously, McCarthy castigated former Speaker Nancy Pelosi for unilaterally authorizing the impeachment inquiry of Donald Trump and hypocritically did just that yesterday, in the face of not being able to get enough GOP floor votes for an investigation.

Donald Trump surfed the racist wave of the contrived birth certificate scandal of former President Barack Obama. Trump brought to the surface the racism that furiously paddled below the waters of American conservatism. When Mr. Trump surrendered for the fourth of his indictments in Georgia, he listed his weight on the booking form as 215 lbs. I DEMAND A ‘GIRTH’ CERTIFICATE OF PROOF!
