Cavalcade of Extremists: The Christian Nationalist/Anti-Semitic ReAwaken America Tour [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-09-19 The ReAwaken America Tour: Where T-Shirts Are Nasty & Paranoia Prevails The Christian nationalist ReAwaken America tour is back after a summer hiatus. The tour which features disgraced former General Michael Flynn, frequent guest speakers Eric Trump, son of the former president, and election fraud funder Mike “My Pillow” Lindell, is a bouillabaisse of anti-Semitism, homophobia, Christian nationalism, and misinformation and disinformation du jour. ReAwaken America is where truth goes to die! People for the American Ways Right Wing Watch described the events as a “nonstop cavalcade of outlandish conspiracy theories and violent rhetoric mixed with aggressive Christian nationalism.” Right Wing Watch reported that Clark has claimed that he has been successful in his effort to directly connect with Trump is working to ensure when he is elected President, Trump will be “surrounded by both prophets and pastors.” “I had dinner with Devin [Nunes],” Clark reported. “He loves our country. He loves Jesus. He’s backstage at the ReAwaken America tour. … I want the prophets, the patriots, and the pastors all to be connected. So, Amanda Grace is backstage talking to Devin Nunes. Lara Trump—Eric’s wife—she openly describes the battle that we’re facing right now is a spiritual battle, which is a far cry from the secular right that doesn’t want to talk about God.” In late August, ReAwaken America staged an event under a huge air-conditioned tent at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Jessica Hill, “The two-day ReAwaken America Tour that kicked off Friday featured dozens of speakers — including conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and election denier Mike Lindell — who addressed a variety of topics like COVID-19 mandates, election security and even nutrition.” On the minds of the hundreds in attendance was support for former president Donald Trump’s Big Lie, fear that a resurgence of COVID would bring about mandates, and the deification of Trump Thee God. ReAwaken America was started up in 2021 by Clay Clark, a conspiracy theorist who unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, made his name pushing COVID conspiracy theories and horse-drug cures for COVID. In a June 2021 interview of The Stew Peters Show Clark argued that the COVID-19 vaccine contained luciferasem which he believed was a cryptocurrency technology associated with the Mark of the Beast prophesied in Revelation 13:16-18. Clark started out with “Health and Freedom” events to protest COVID-19 masking and vaccination measures. In the summer of 2021, he rebranded his operation as the ReAwaken America Tour. Several news outlets reported that during the November event held at Pastor John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, Clark led attendees in the "Let's Go Brandon!" chant, a euphemism used in place of the more explicit "Fuck Joe Biden!” It was at that event that Michael Flynn, a frequent guest speaker, stated, "If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion. One nation under God, and one religion under God." At the March 2022 event in San Diego, Salon reported that Flynn said, "We need you to charge the machine gun nest…. Maybe I'm just asking you to dig a little bit deeper there or hold this side of the line, or form up cause we're gonna counterattack over here, and that counterattack is, we're gonna go after school boards." Katherine Stewart is a veteran ReAwaken America attendee. Reporting on the Las Vegas event for The New Republic, Stewart, the author of The Power Worshippers:Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism, found that not only were the “T-shirts are getting nastier,” the rhetoric was significantly ratcheted up. Stewart noted such t-shirts: “’Size Matters’ blared one man’s shirt over enlarged images of bullets of various calibers. ‘It’s RINO Season,’ read another, with an image of Trump carrying a long gun. Another man’s T-shirt featured dozens of white male soldiers and the words ‘Diversity is Destruction’ across the bottom. There was the old standby, ‘God, Guns, and Trump.’ And then there was ‘BLITZKRIEG.’” As described by Stewart, the list of guest speakers is a who’s who of the paranoid conspiracy complex: Alex Jones, the infamous purveyor of the most heinous conspiracies; Shari Tenpenny, identified by the Center for Countering Digital Hate as one of the top 12 most influential Covid deniers; the actor and election-lie promoter Roseanne Barr, and a slew of demon-haunted “spirit warriors” from the Christian nationalist movement. “When [Anthony Fauci] is convicted after a short and fast but thorough trial, he will hang from a length of thick rope,” said the far-right personality Stew Peters. “When [Hunter Biden] is convicted … he will get … Death!” Stewart noted that “The audience of several thousand roared their approval.” “We all have one common enemy, his name is Satan, and right now his minions are trying to run the country,” Peters went on. “Liberals, Democrats, Communists, lizard things, we got a lot of words for these creatures.” Peters said that when Trump is restored to the White House there will be “Nuremburg trials 2.0.” “All we need is a body of water, a length of rope, and a heavy millstone.… We are going to see extreme accountability. Natural accountability. Permanent accountability with extreme prejudice.” “In the world that we are going to build,” Peters declared, “traitors will hang.” Stewart reported that Jews weren’t spared the wrath of the speakers. “Conspiracy podcaster Mel K, a fortyish woman who spent two decades in Hollywood before ‘moving back to NYC to focus full time on exposing truth,’ all identified the archvillains as ‘globalist billionaires.’ The masterminds are ‘the IMF, the World Bank, and financial elites,’ she said. In case there was any doubt about what these villains look like, she and the others repeatedly named George Soros and the Rothschilds.” Future ReAwaken America Tour dares are October 13-14, at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, and December 15-16, at the International Agri-Center in Tulare, California.
