Poll: Clear majority of Americans do not trust politicians on abortion or gender affirming care [1]

New polling of 20,000 American voters just dropped yesterday and it shows a HUGE majority of Americans absolutely do not trust politicians to make decisions about abortion and gender affirming care for transgender individuals.

As Republicans across the country move to restrict both abortion rights and gender affirming care seven out of ten people polled expressed their opinions that our nation’s politicians are not informed enough to make these kinds of decisions that affect our citizen’s bodily autonomy.

For example Republicans have been using “experts” in their court cases who cannot even name a single drug used in puberty blocking treatment for transgender youth. Anti-trans groups have paid over a million dollars to so-called “experts” whose “expertise” is entirely based in religious dogma rather than proven science and research.

When asked whether “politicians are informed enough about abortion to create fair policies,” a sizable majority of voters from both parties said they strongly or somewhat disagreed. Seventy-six percent of Democrats disagreed, followed by 68 percent of Republicans and 69 percent of independents. This majority held across men, women and nonbinary Americans, as well as across races and ethnicities. When asked the same question about gender-affirming health care for minors, 77 percent of Democrats, 74 percent of Republicans and 69 percent of independents strongly or somewhat disagreed that politicians have enough information to create fair policy. This majority was also consistent across genders, ethnicities and races.

What this proves is that Republicans are EXACTLY on the wrong side of these two issues. However the Republican Party finds itself in what is known as a Doom Cycle where they cannot moderate their positions to make themselves more appealing to voters and instead simply double, triple, and quadruple down on their unpopular and HIGHLY discriminatory policies. And whether they like it or not, abortion rights WILL be front and center next election.
