My drip irrigation system works! [1]

Last year the county water agency gave out a grant to remove grass lawns from front yards. last week I finally got the drip irrigation system working and a few plants planted. Below is the “before” picture and jump the fold for the “after” picture.

Below you can see the manifold with black feeder tubes that go to the plants. During testing I ran the system for one hour into a milk jug and got exactly one gallon of water out. And this was precisely the flow expected according to the manifold settings and the tube end plug flow rating.

Below is a picture of the whole project. When I put in the plastic PVC pipes I installed lot of taps so over the next year I can plant lots more plants with each one getting an individual feed line.

The major water savings comes from removing lawn and putting cardboard down and covering the cardboard with brown bark mulch.
