The Butterfield-Hutchinson Connection [1]

I vividly remember where I was during Alexander Butterfield's explosive #Watergate public testimony on Monday, July 16, 1973, disclosing #Nixon's oval office audio taping system. I was on the first floor of the Georgia Institute of Technology main tower, and I saw my political science professor standing in a small group in the hallway huddled around a little black & white TV set. I heard him exclaim, "Unbelievable! Do you see this?! It's unbelievable!" He understood the magnitude of that singular event that ultimately brought down the 37th President of the United States.



Some 49 years later, that candid testimony inspired his counterpart in the 45th Presidential administration to do likewise. #CassidyHutchinson's honest testimony also triggered investigations that are now in the process of having equally historical consequences. But the best thing I heard her say to #LawrenceODonnell was this: "It's always the right time to do the right thing." Google tells me that's a quote from #MartinLutherKingJr. And to borrow from another of his quotes, we are watching with our very eyes the arc of the moral universe bending towards justice.
