Street Prophets Coffee Hour [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-01 Welcome to the Street Prophets Coffee Hour, the place where politics meets up with religion, art, science, nature, history, and life. Come in, have a cuppa and a cookie (or several!) and join us. I’m still recovering from Friday’s heart attack and I haven’t been out to take more pictures, so today I’ll let my friend Jenny do the diary, with the Spencer poem, “Welcome to October.” Then came October full of merry glee; For yet his noule was totty of the must, Which he was treading in the wine-fat’s see, And of the joyous oyle, whose gentle gust Made him so frolic and so full of lust: Upon a dreadful Scorpion he did ride, The same which by Dianæ’s doom unjust Slew great Orion; and eeke by his side He had his ploughing-share and coulter ready tyde. SPENSER Please check out October at Random Scottish History, Jenny’s website, for a lovely description of autumn. I can hardly wait for actual autumn, later this week. We still have temperatures in the mid 90s and I’m absolutely through with summer even if it isn’t through with me. (I reserve the right to complain about winter in similar circumstances, though.) And here are a few autumn pictures from the files. Hoping for more next week. Y’all take care of yourselves. This is an open thread. All topics are welcome.
