If you were Putin ... [1]

If you were Vladimir Putin—given that you’ve sworn America is your enemy and given that we are leading the coalition supporting Ukraine—what would make you feel your best these days?

Wouldn’t you want as much chaos as possible in the American political system? Particularly in regard to the national appropriations process, via debt ceiling fights, shutdown threats and keeping the entire government barely hanging on by its fingernails via short-term continuing resolutions?

Wouldn’t you want to have congress playing as many games a possible with support for Ukraine?

Having already divided the country between Trumpers and the rest of us, wouldn’t you want to divide things even further by splitting the GOP into pieces?

Wouldn’t you want to undermine the American economy in as many ways as you could, ranging from keeping gas prices high and doing whatever else is possible to maintain inflation, to fomenting the aforementioned budgetary chaos?

Wouldn’t you want to undermine confidence in the sitting Democratic president by promoting spurious charges against him? Corruption charges that just coincidentally happen to mirror the corruption charges being leveled at the Republican former president, making the media’s both-sides-ism that much easier for the average person to swallow?

Wouldn’t you want to support the primary chaos agent (known as “the former guy”), particularly when he does everything he can to undermine democracy and belittle the military?

What do all of the above items have in common? It all points directly to the US Republican party, either overtly or implicitly. And I can’t help but ask—in addition to TFG, are they also, whether directly or indirectly, sponsored by Putin?

In short, is there a coordinated effort between the Republicans and Putin to weaken this country? (Don’t even get me started about Fox News, they’re likely complicit too.)

I think the Democrats who control the Senate need to conduct an investigation of Putin’s links to—not the GOP, they would cry “witch hunt” and the media would let them—but to the entire American political system. That could really focus public attention.
