[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-02 I finally got my first new YouTube video posted on my new YouTube channel! My nephew, Nic, helped me. Thank you, Nic! As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at, to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off Daily Kos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on Daily Kos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! This is our current schedule of regular IAN diary writers: Monday: Youffraita Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac Wednesday: Pam from Calif Thursday: art ah zen Friday: FloridaSNMOM Saturday: FloridaSNDad Sunday: loggersbrat The little dog is named Itzl. Look at this! (The first part is dark, because I had forgotten to take off the lens cap! Ha!) Yay! I am finally on my way! (I recently shaved off my beard, so I look way different nowadays.) I have been inspired to start making videos, because I watch a lot of YouTube. Plus, I actually had my own channel, a few years ago. Somehow, YouTube locked me out of my old channel. Here is an example from that old channel, posted five years ago: Okay, watching that, truly makes me feel good. That video says important things, seems to me. The earlier me, teaching the current me! Ha! I will now show you examples of videos from my other favorite YouTube channels. Beau of the Fifth Column puts out four videos every day. Each video is at least four or five minutes long, but less than ten minutes long: This man, Beau, likes to do a lot of research, to make sure the information he presents in his videos is accurate. He opens each video with: Well, howdy there internet people. It’s Beau again. And he ends each video with: Anyway, it’s just a thought. Y’all have a nice day. He inspired me to have a standard closing line for my videos. That is why I have started using Tonia’s line: Later, Tater! I also like to watch the videos of Roland Martin Unfiltered. He owns this news channel, The Black Star Network. He promotes the idea that Black owned media is very important, so that Black Americans, like Roland and his staff, can express exactly what they want to say, and white owners and managers cannot fire them for speaking out. Do not feel obligated to watch the whole thing. He likes to post these two-hour live streams. I put on one of these when I am washing dishes, or other chores. I like to watch Roland’s channel, to keep up with the point of view of Black Americans. Similar to the Black Kos diaries here at Daily Kos. By the way, anytime anyone, left wing or right wing, tries to tell me that Mainstream Media is EVIL!!! I say, no. Firmly, no. Here is my favorite mainstream media YouTube channel. Since the folks at MSNBC have a news channel to take videos from, they post about 40 videos each day. So much great content to choose from. I usually start my day by playing the latest Mark Narrations video, on my wide screen TV, as I am sitting in my love seat, getting dressed. (I spend a few minutes rubbing lotion on my feet, putting on my socks, and lacing up my boots.) These videos are just a man from England, named Mark (like me), as he reads Reddit stories into a microphone. I have never gone directly to Reddit myself. I just let Mark read the relationship stories for me! Ha! This next YouTube channel has very relaxing videos: This channel truly connects with me. Both my parents were born in 1924, on two different farms in central Missouri. When I was a small child, from 1955 to about 1970, we visited Grandma’s farm (the one where my mother grew up) every summer and every Christmas. So, I feel a strong connection with life on a farm. The farm you see on this channel is in Azerbaijan. (Which is between Russia and Iran!) But it looks a lot like Missouri! This channel has millions of subscribers. If you watch carefully, you will see that whoever is operating the camera, truly has great skills. Seems to me. They get cats and dogs and ducks and chickens in the video. Because everyone enjoys looking at cats and dogs and ducks and chickens! Ha! In the last few years Tonia was alive, we often watched dash cam videos together: I no longer have a car, so I no longer drive. But, for some reason, these videos, with all their crashes, feel soothing to me. Ha! Last but not least, my brother-in-law has a nice YouTube channel. He has been posting videos there for a few years. He posts videos that show some of the details of what he is doing, as he works hard, mowing lawns and doing clean-outs: Watching his videos, and posting comments, gives me a family connection with my in-laws. Remember, his wife, Ratana, just gave birth to Olivia Diane, on Monday, the 25th of September, this year. One more short video, posted nine months ago, from my brother-in-law’s channel: That little girl is my buddy, my niece, Isabella, also known as The Big Girl. She now has two younger sisters, Gabriella and Olivia Diane. So, in summary: Facebook, for family. Daily Kos, for you, my internet buddies. YouTube, for everything else, including more family interactions. And soon, you will see more YouTube videos, recorded by me, posted here at the Itzl Alert Network! So, rather than trying to paint word pictures of my veggie garden, and my cooking adventures, and my other chores, I can finally start showing you my videos. A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth ten thousand words. Ha! Hugs!
