Just as Bugsy Siegel sold more than 100% of the shares of The Flamingo about 75 years ago in order to build it, in 2023 Kevin McCarthy sold more than 100% of his favors to win the Speakership.

Congratulations Kevin McCarthy.

You’ve now landed in the company of one Bugsy Siegel, the notorious gangster whose willingness to promise more than he could deliver ultimately resulted in his demise — at the hands of those he had swindled. Siegel SO wanted to build his casino that he sold well over 100% of the actual shares, and did so to Mob bosses that included the notorious Meyer Lansky. The ending was brutal and deadly.

Fast forward about 75 years and the same thing has happened in the House of Representative. In January 2023, McCarthy was SO determined to BE the Speaker of the House, he also promised more than he could deliver. On October 3, 2023, those chickens have come home to roost. The ending for McCarthy won’t be deadly, unless he considers the death of his legacy to be the case. But he still stands humiliated for his lack of a spine.
