Congress paralyzed until next Wednesday for GOP to "socialize" [1]

Per Bob Good (R-VA) on CNN. The Republican conference will recess until next Tuesday, at which point Republicans will meet for Speaker candidates to replace ousted former speaker McCarthy to "socialize" with the conference. The earliest possible floor vote for Speaker would be on the following Wednesday.

This is with a looming government shutdown just before Thanksgiving. Until a speaker is elected, virtually no business can go forward in the House. No budget, no emergency declaration if a natural disaster hits in the next week, no declaration of war if the country is attacked in the next 8 days.

Meanwhile, Republicans have some kind of cocktail party planned next week. The lack of urgency is stunning.
