If you thought David Waldman addressed all of the news that could possibly have been addressed on Monday, you would be correct. But the thing is, it’s Tuesday now.

Our federal government has averted another shutdown and now we all will live happily ever after... Joan McCarter thinks perhaps not, as it is about 45 days, give or take a vacation break or two, before Republicans again have an opportunity to drag us off the cliff. Next time we might not have Kevin McCarthy to kick around anymore, or at least Kevin will have been kicked around several times by then. When Matt Gaetz signed up to burn it all down, he meant to burn it all down. Will the Democrats bring fire extinguishers or marshmallows?

Donald Trump thinks his fraud trial is a scam, so of course he is hoping to get a piece of the action. Trump’s attorney Alina Habba forgot to mark the blank to get Trump a jury trial, so as punishment she has to sit right next to him for a few days. Alina Habba… how does she do it? Kari “yesterday’s news” Lake will have to work extra hard to keep Donald’s attention. Luckily for Kari, Trump still wants to win the 2020 election in Arizona.

Clarence Thomas tossed out a recusal to throw the hounds off his scent in his escape from years of ethics charges. If only new temptations didn’t keep coming his way…

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden announces $1.4 billion to improve rail safety and boost capacity in 35 states. That’s enough to make some Republicans act like progressive Democrats. Of course, their underlying motivations may differ...
