Welcome to Bookchat! Where you can talk about anything; books, plays, essays, and audio books. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.

Hi, it’s been a while since there was a BookChat diary, so I’m publishing one. I don’t really have much to say, I just didn’t want people to get used to them not being here. It is Banned Books Week, though. Here is the awesome LeVar Burton talking about book bans:

So, what are you reading? Read any good books lately? Any banned ones? I just finished one in a feminist historical fiction one that a bet the banners would hate if they knew about it. Series title is Hell’s Belles; they’re a group of woman in Victorian London who…..fix things. Terrible men have unfortunate accidents, girls about to be married off to awful men disappear and are somehow magically in Gretna Green with the man they actually love; and best of all, dossiers full of incriminating evidence against awful men somehow appear in Scotland Yard. Think Leverage but Victorian women and much, much steamier. And the way she ended it, there’s going to be at least one more.

Anyway, I just wanted there to be a BookChat, so here one is. And hey — if you like talking about books, how about hosting a BookChat? Next week is open; and the week after, and so on.
