[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-04 A front page diary by someone I generally enjoy reading, Rudeness shadows the new house speaker pro tempore, known more for inexperience, takes two short-person jabs at speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry: “But then, the new House speaker pro tempore is easy to overlook, both literally and metaphorically.” and “Since bringing down the gavel—which probably only looked comically oversized because the diminutive McHenry was holding it...” Ha ha. Scrolling the comments, it only gets worse. I saw no fewer than a dozen hilarious jabs at McHenry’s height. I’m not bothering to block quote them. Way down the list a few kind souls speak out against this shameful height-shaming, but their comments are lost in the noise. What’s disappointing is that the diary itself is fine and didn’t need the “jokes.” Please be better dkos community. Shred the guy for his meanness, bowtie, or whatever, I don’t care (be forewarned I voted for Paul Simon in the Democratic primaries for President many years ago, however). But physical trait-shaming should be a non-starter here. Carry on.
