In this context, Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries proposes that a bipartisan coalition is the way forward for the House. Other countries often have ‘national unity’ governments consisting of the two main parties, but I’m not aware of anything like that in US history. It’s a bit different since the House only needs to select a speaker, and not populate a cabinet.
