No Trump will not become Speaker -- Here's why [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-06 I recently received an email from a Democratic Coalition with a subject header practically screaming, “Oh no! Trump may become House Speaker; send us gazillions to stop him!” My husband, a Republican, received a very similar email, only it read more like, “Yippee Kiyay Brothers, Trump could be Speaker, make the Libtards cry and donate now!” Mainstream Media narratives fed the flames further, with liberal and conservative rags alike acting as if there was an actual chance of Trump being handed the gavel. Mainstream Media narratives fed the flames further, with liberal and conservative rags alike acting as if there was an actual chance of Trump being handed the gavel. Newsflash—not happening! Why Trump doesn’t have a snowball’s chance of being a speaker. The likelihood of Trump becoming Speaker is about the same as pedo enabler Jim Jordon’s. Why? Because the votes aren’t there, that’s why. Heck, Hakeem Jeffries has a greater chance of becoming Speaker of the House than those yokels—Dems would vote for him, and there are some moderate Republicans who view him favorably. He’s also a solid leader beloved by his caucus, likely because he inspires loyalty and confidence among his crew and takes his job seriously. According to Yahoo News: As Republicans navigate who they will nominate as their next House speaker after the ousting of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., House Democrats are making it clear their only vote will be for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. Jeffries, the first Black American to serve as leader of a major party in Congress, “has been outstanding as the Democratic leader,” U.S. Rep. Glenn Ivey, D-Md., told theGrio. “We voted for him at the beginning of the Congress in January 15 times and got all 212 Democratic votes every time. Unfortunately, Kevin McCarthy pulled it out at the end,” said the congressman. Ship of fools So, there you have it; still a long shot but more likely than Jordan's appointment. Liz Cheney weighed in on that front (Huffington Post): “Jim Jordan knew more about what Donald Trump had planned for January 6th than any other member of the House of Representatives,” Cheney said. “Jim Jordan was involved, was part of the conspiracy in which Donald Trump was engaged as he attempted to overturn the election.” While Cheney said she didn’t expect Jordan to win the upcoming contest, she said his potential ascension to the position would send a strong message about where the GOP’s allegiance lies. “If they were to decide that, there would no longer be any possible way to argue that a group of elected Republicans could be counted on to defend the Constitution,” she said. All things considered, I believe Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger would be decent Speakers if the GOP wanted to hand the vote to Republcian representatives. I wouldn’t fix my mouth to say I like their politics, but both are reasonable enough to understand the job and what it entails. I wouldn’t fix my mouth to say I like their politics, but both are reasonable enough to understand the job and what it entails. Nicole and I go over the mayhem and potential speaker choices here: Republicans created a New House Rule that would keep Trump from being Speaker A Yahoo News article entitled: Even If Donald Trump Wanted To Be Speaker, House GOP Rules Say He Can't lays it out succinctly: The problem? Republicans’ own rules forbid someone under criminal indictment for a felony from serving in party leadership. In other words, Trump is not a viable candidate for the Speakership. Trump himself has waffled about whether he wanted to become Speaker of the House, hinting that other Republicans may be better suited for the job. Let’s face it: even if he does make it in, the actual job would run him out of the chair so fast you’d think the OFM was The Flash! Which leads to my final point Donald Trump doesn’t want to be Speaker of the House—too much responsibility. He must also put in real work and not delegate it all away. Remember, Trump will also have his hands full fending off lawsuits and criminal trials. The Republicans know all this, as do the Democrats and members of the Mainstream Media. Trump becoming Speaker of the House is all a lot of click-bait, money-grubbing hooey designed to keep people fearful and the mouse cursor furiously clicking. Don’t allow the MSM and those who stand to gain bamboozle you! Even if, on the off chance, Trump becomes Speaker of the House—and mark my words, he likely won’t—there are many reasons why he would inevitably vacate that chair. Remain vigilant, stay informed, and vote blue.
