Unexpectedly Coordinated Hamas Attack Across Southern Israel Started with the Abraham Accords [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-07 Hamas and its dictator, Ismail Haniyeh, probably just ended their stay in Hamas. That Hamas says they launched this attack on behalf of Al Aqsa (only afterwards making a reference to 'independence’) is more disturbed still. They could likely lose control of Al Aqsa and the Temple Mount as well. And realize this comes from Haniyeh as he sits in his condo in, I believe, Qatar. I know he sure as hell isn’t in Gaza. To those who continue to ‘applaud’ the extreme violence of Hamas terrorists as ‘freedom for Palestine;’ you should feel equal or more pain for the so many Palestinian citizens who have experienced ongoing brutality and extreme repression by Hamas and their allies for the past 50+ years. But to achieve ‘freedom’ from brutally corrupt leaders both in Gaza and the PA has never been a concern. It is the Palestinian ‘leadership’ going back to Arafat who have kept Palestinian citizens in refugee camps for decades despite ample opportunities otherwise. It is Palestinian ‘leadership’ going back to Arafat who have consistently and utterly rejected any attempt at peace with Israel for their own internecine wars, lack of any prioritized or self sustaining economic development, severe incitement and valuation of the Death of their own young in pointless terroristic assaults on Israel. The fighting today started with Trump’s Christian Zionist pushed ‘Abraham Accords’ with a more immediate trigger being the threat of an Israeli, American and Saudi Arabia accord. The Palestinian leadership have been seeing far less support for their ‘cause’ than ever by regional governments and nations who’ve previously at least feigned it on their behalf. I think a key will be if any one, or more, regional Arab governments step in to deny Hamas’s strategy of full out assault on Israel and Israeli citizens and offer to be honest brokers in subsequent negotiations. Thus far, none have spoken publicly. This collection of triggers has more recently been combined with Netanyahu’s Faustian and incendiary Jewish extremist/terrorist coalition and a core of their Christian Zionist friends and sponsors who want little more than a full-out 'religious' war with Palestinians factions and shut down of the PA and, especially, Hamas in the occupied territories. Who have been waiting for any excuse for the attempt to reannex Gaza — just to start. I’ve written multiple times that Netanyahu is more of a threat to Israel’s short term security and long term stability than Hamas, the PA and Iran combined for years. That reality has sadly appeared to happen in front of our eyes. Bibi is also now nothing but a paramount coward. We’ve seen increasing, tolerated and, even, supported violent and murderous attacks by Jewish settlers and extremist ultra orthodox sects on Gaza, Gazan towns and its citizenry. This, even as Israel’s IDF has too often stood by and watched. There is no excuse. I’ve also written that the status quo must change. The start of today’s attacks by Hamas and Islamic Jihad make that a certainty. Netanyahu’s conduct has only been for Netanyahu’s own desperate attempts to stay out of jail. He’s been corruptly acting independent of Israel’s interests over the past number of years. In this, Netanyahu is acting much more like America’s four time criminally indicted one term failed ‘president,’ Trump, whose own pronouncements on the Hamas attack must be dismissed as outright self serving garbage. And how is it be possible that the Mossad, maybe the globe’s premier intelligence organization, and American intelligence combined had absolutely no idea what was about to happen? Hamas' carefully coordinated attack has been long time planned and resourced. Who, exactly, was involved in blocking that out; of offering potential distractors? This is an intelligence failure of massive proportions which far exceeds that which was identified in the Yom Kippur War, just about exactly 50 years ago. The announcement of cause by Hamas didn't primarily talk about independence or freedom for its citizens but that it launched this massive atrocity to protect Al Aqsa. Think for a moment how absolutely nuts that is as a primarily instigator and ultimate goal. There is no goal for the Gaza dictatorship’s assault on Israel other than committing its Palestinian citizens to suicide and self destruction. There is no purpose other than allowing the Jewish extremist/terrorist Right to make claims of having been correct all along. Smotrich and Ben Gvir have wanted nothing more than an all out assault on and to shut down the West Bank and Gaza. Will this provide them that potentially atrocious opportunity? The Gazan dictator Haniyeh, and allies - both inside and outside of Israel - have just created the needed conditions for all out war and their own elimination from Gaza. The potential destruction in Gaza and Israel could be massive while driven by the Israel Jewish extremist/terrorist Right. The potential for a two front war with Hezbollah deciding to take action in the North is alarmingly real. But despite the claims by the ancient theocrats in Iran, as they take a break from murdering their own women and children, this attack by Hamas on Israel will never result in 'the independence of Palestine or Jerusalem.' Only mature, honest and mutually beneficial negotiations have a chance for any such result. And there will not be any complete ‘independence’ and success for either side as Israel needs to recognize Palestinian Rights just as Palestinians and their allies must accept and assure Israel’s sovereignty and security. Hamas’ ultimate goal to eliminate Israel must end. It is not possible. If Hamas’ long stated intent continues, it will result in massive pain for Israel but far more so for Palestinian citizens in the Gaza and West Bank who have been tortured and brutally repressed by their own leadership for so many decades. Whose needs and future have been brutally compromised by their own leadership Though there have been breaks in violence by and to Israel, it has never meant peace is anywhere close. Martin Luther King Jr so correctly and presciently said "Peace is not the absence of violence, but the presence of justice." There must be justice for both, Israel and Palestinian citizens. The US and the West now have a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the Middle East. If this another opportunity lost, the costs will be horrific.
