Sunday Morning Open Thread: Taylor Swift and Her Battle With the Republicans [1]

Good morning, folks. Today’s artist is Taylor Swift. You’ve probably heard of the kerfluffle she’s created with the Republican Party. But first,

This war the Republicans declared on Taylor Swift and her fans—called the Swifties--began when Taylor took to Instagram and encouraged her 272K fans to register to vote. She didn’t even tell them who to vote for. She just asked them to register at the nonprofit, nonpartisan site Vote.org. And register they did. NPR reports that Vote.org reported a 1,226% jump in participation in the hour after her post. The latest number I found is 35,000 people signed on.

Why would the Republican Party be upset over getting people registered to vote? We know why. Because they got nuthin that appeals to young voters.

And then there’s that little bit about her new romance with the Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce. The hot new power couple have even stolen the spotlight from Aaron Rodgers, which is alright with me. You know it’s serious when Taylor was seen in the VIP skybox hugging Kelce’s mom. You’ll have to go to Youtube to see the vid, though. It belongs to the NFL. You know how they are with their merch. Apparently they’re the same with their vids.

Now on to a few of Taylor Swift’s songs.
