Protest of Denial of Care at Humana in Louisville on Wed. Oct. 11 at 11:30 am [1]

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11:30 am protesters will gather in front of Humana Headquarters at 500 W. Main in downtown Louisville

* to protest the denial of care,

* to demand the right to choose your doctor,

* to express solidarity with retirees fighting forced placement in Medicare Advantage,

* and to demand health care for patients not profits–Improved Medicare for All.

On the same day, Wed. Oct. 11, there will be demonstrations at Aetna and United Healthcare in Hartford, Connecticut and in 10 cities around the country.

Here in Kentucky thousands of retirees as well as active workers and their families have been denied the right to choose or keep their physicians as Humana squabbled and failed to reach agreement with the Baptist Health physicians.

Every year, tens of thousands of people enrolled in private Medicare Advantage plans are denied necessary care that should be covered under the program, federal investigators have concluded. ht

At the same time these private plans, like Humana Medicare Advantage, are overpaid by up to $140 billion a year and are plundering the Medicare Trust Fund.

Over 5 million retirees have been forced into Medicare Advantage plans as their employers deprived them of the freedom and benefits of traditional Medicare.

Protesters across the country are demanding an end to these outrageous practices, an end to the privatization of Medicare, and the enactment of a national, not-for-profit, single payer system—an improved Medicare for All that would bring to the nation the benefits of a universal health care system.
