This is the pattern for Russia once a town is retaken by Ukraine — they shell it into oblivion. Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Mariinka, Robotyne, etc., have all been smashed to rubble by artillery. By contrast, look at the city of Donetsk, just a few miles east of the front lines. Ukraine has hit military targets in the city but the rest of it is untouched and life goes on with a semblance of normality. x 🚨 #Kherson: Another night, another building hit. 11 wounded, including a young mom with her nine-month-old. He complained that the 58th Army had suffered unnecessarily heavy casualties, lacked artillery support and commanders had lied about the true situation. 4/ Popov was replaced with Lieutenant General Denis Lyamin, seen as a Gerasimov loyalist. Unconfirmed reports in September claimed that Lyamin had been injured in a Ukrainian missile attack in Melitopol. 5/ According to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, "the leadership of the General Staff is trying to pass off 3 months of defensive actions of the 58th Army in the Zaporizhzhia region as Lyamin's personal and successful achievement. 6/ "In fact, under Lyamin the concealment of the true state of affairs in the units was encouraged, facts of retreat from positions were hushed up, and the practice of shifting the responsibility to the Airborne Troops and neighbouring in the region was applied. 7/ "In view of the predicted deterioration of the 58th Army, Gerasimov took his close associate Lyamin away from the blow of responsibility, leaving Major-General Sergei Medvedev, the Army Chief of Staff, to sort out the accumulated problems." 8/ The 58th Army has suffered heavy casualties in the face of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the region. It was reported in mid-September that at least five regiments of airborne forces (VDV) had been redeployed to the area to shore up the worn-out 58th Army units. 9/ The OSINT Georgia Telegram channel calls Lyamin "a less proactive and cowardly officer, who was disliked by his colleagues and subordinates both in Crimea and during his service in the Western Military District and Tajikistan." 10/ He has evidently not succeeded in dealing with the problems that Popov identified, which have likely hindered Russia's efforts to block the Ukrainian advance in the Robotyne area. /end The Russians really, really don’t like those cluster munitions. Too bad. The solution to that is to leave Ukraine and go home. x Pro-Russian sources claim that a new attack in the area of Robotyne-Verbove is imminent, and that they are massively being targeted with cluster munitions. pic.twitter.com/9rQ2GNARf4 — NOELREPORTS 🇪🇺 🇺🇦 (@NOELreports) October 9, 2023 If it doesn’t fit, use a hammer.
