White House reports US citizens "Hostages" of Hamas - is this Iran Hostage all over again? [1]

The only thing CNBC had to add to the reporting to date was:

Biden confirmed for the first time that Americans are among the people being held hostage by Hamas.

I am sure Putin would not be advancing Hamas attacks to create pressure on Biden and swing the US election. Nope, never seen the use of hostages to influence a US election. Oh, wait, maybe I have:

History doesn’t repeat but it sure does rhyme. Let the Rethuglicans get away with a heinous act and, sure enough, they will do it again.

I wish I couldn’t believe they would stoop this low but I can’t believe they wouldn’t.
