[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-11 We have a major change in tactics by the UAW. One of the major Ford plants is now out. This particular plant is responsible for some of the most profitable models and represents about 1/6 of Ford’s revenue. The UAW is pressing hard and this mid-week walkout is a major signal. After GM’s major concession on Battery Plants, it appears the UAW wanted to get the others to move and move fast. They gave Ford very little time and when essentially Ford came back with basically the same offer Fain walked. The interesting thing here is GM was always going to be the first to cave on Battery Plants. They have been having terrible problems getting them staffed (mainly because they cheaped out on labor). Fain probably would have accepted some movement there and not pulled the trigger then. However without any major movement was ready to shift the stance before the normal Friday briefing.
