[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-12 One sign of personal or institutional regression is a surprising act that has never been done before from past behavior, such as the truly amazing trick of a Party beheading its own House Speaker a mere 100 days into his term while shutting down the House during appropriations. I have been emphatically insisting for months Republicans are in regression, here’s another political nuclear Republican implosion and in all that time who listened to me? Nobody, of course. Perhaps because I describe the inevitable political result of regression as fascism, oh dear nice American people would never regress to that, here we say neo-fascism. [rolls eyes] Thank you, I’ll remember. The party no longer believes in the basic idea of a functioning, competent government, even in the face of a regional war. –Andrew Gawthorpe, The Guardian. The American political media world can be a bewildering dazzle to attempt comprehension with exploding wars, screams from chattering assault weapons, floods and storms and ripping rage at previous rights taken away, starlet Swift twinkling at the edges. It’s difficult in all the maelstrom to understand how politically disastrous the latest House Republican move really was and is, nothing has been resolved from the catastrophe. These Republican House clowns can’t pass appropriation bills, usually they sail through with no ripple of news or comprehension at all, just basic government functioning of a majority Party. One could go on forever, but the bigger picture is this: On policy, Republicans simply have nothing to offer. They won't improve people's lives or fix existing problems.--Amanda Marcotte, Salon. If those chattering yahoos can’t pass appropriation bills that means our government immediately begins to shut down, that means a smashing blow to the American economy and displayed weakness as war erupts in two continents. The stupidity is breathtaking, the irresponsibility enraging, so many little people would be hurt with American political integrity so terribly knifed. Of course the same disgusting tactics and incredible risks were on the line with the debt ceiling hostage evolution, but in an extremely worrisome development there is no liberal President to take on this time, the Republicans have purely done this to themselves and somehow must solve it themselves. There isn’t a good prognosis for those in regression, there never is. The dynamics that brought them to this place are exactly as they were last week. The Republican Party is still completely dysfunctional and they have no idea how to fix it.--Heather Parton, Salon. Regressives always blame someone else for their glaring mistakes, it didn’t go unnoticed or will ever be forgotten House Republicans screeched blame for their lying dysfunctionality on the formerly graceful, blessedly functional Nancy Pelosi. My dear Republican cousins, it’s one thing to lie about horribly tarnishing the integrity of the United States, quite another to beat up on a woman who isn’t even the Minority Leader, you even shut down her office. It’s another story of fury about to break upon Republicans in election 2024 for what they’ve done to our women with reproductive rights, okay, but couple that with what they just did to Nancy Pelosi and I can assure you, Kevin McCarthy, you and your regressive Republican Party hoodlums are going to pay for that. I’ve been watching American politics for over 5 decades, oh man I know a gathering political storm when I see one, you and your scurrilous scumbag political neo-fascists are, some day in some way, going to pay and pay and pay and pay for that, you actually stand before us and call yourselves American men? [massages eyebrows] Excuse me. Since I’m addressing our cher Republican cousins come on over here for a genial genuinely well-meaning chat, why not, I’ve got some news for you. Your 2024 Presidential candidate could actually, easily be imprisoned in 2024, how’s that going to work out for you on election day? You’ve lifted the control rods on a nuclear political pile of serious fury from American women for taking away their reproductive rights. You totally quacked the federal Judiciary, a busted Supreme Court somehow has to fix busted quack appellate decisions this term, and now the House has been blown out and is on life support, if it can’t be rescued even your Wall Street buddies will be livid with you! God I’m worried, not for you but for the little people and the country. “...there would no longer be any possible way to argue that a group of elected Republicans could be counted on to defend the Constitution.” –Liz Cheney Nobody listens to me, hell you guys won’t even listen to a flaming Republican like Liz Cheney, but know it like the sun rises: many, many voices besides mine are calling out your horrible dangerous political regression. There will come a day when it’s just accepted fact you’re all lying neo-fascist clowns who can’t even be trusted to run the House, even the Washington Post will get it. For that the price is unified Democratic Party control of American government in 2025, oh yes Presidency, Senate and House will be ours. Plus the public humiliation and rage from your constituents, your own people will despise you even more. At that rocky abyss bottom perhaps turning to principles like truth and service could save you. Maybe.
